It’s a topsy turvy kinda day.
I don’t know why I do these things, but I plan to throw myself for a loop, turn myself on my head, and generally flip out in the test kitchen today. Translation, I am making two dishes that must be inverted when they are finished baking, a timballo and a tarte tatin. Inverting dishes, even gelatin molds, always makes me nervous.
When it comes to cooking though, I love the thrill of a challenge. I made a souffle’ when I was a teenager just to be able to say I had done it. It came out beautifully, but I have never made one since. I guess because I already have and sort of checked it off my mental list. That’s just silly.
But anyway, that’s why I am doing two things that make me nervous today. Whether either of them will end up being posted in the blog or will end up blotting out a few white squares on my checkered kitchen floor, only time will tell. I’ve got my heavy duty apron and a mop ready. Wish me luck!
