Think– those chocolate oranges that you break into sections that are wrapped in the dimpled imitation orange rind foil. That’s where I got the idea for these. I have to say I was satisfied with the results, especially when they first came out of the oven and were literally melting in my mouth. I had three before the last batch came out. Yikes!
Ingredients:
1/2 c. dark cocoa
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. packed light brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. natural orange extract
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
12 oz. package semisweet chocolate chips
Method:
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Dump all of the ingredients into a bowl but the chocolate chips and mix until combined.
I did it by hand but next time I will use the mixer. It was stiff! Stir in the chocolate chips.
Drop by rounded tablespoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 13 minutes. Immediately transfer to cooling racks.
As soon as they can be handled let one melt in your mouth.
Store in an airtight container as soon as they are completely cool and set up.
Hm…I wonder how a chocolate orange broken into pieces in place of the semisweet morsels would do. Even better, I imagine!
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
They look a bit like your black gold fudge – Yum!
Great photo of the cookie jar.
Thank you! These and the Black Gold Fudge are both made with dark cocoa.
